The SuperNatural Series does much more than pay homage to the master luthier. These truly are vintage instruments of the 21st century featuring technical innovations that have made Takamine famous. These acoustic-electrics* come equipped with our palathetic bridge pickup linked to the CoolTube preamp. This combination captures even the finest sonic nuance, delivering a warm, clear amplified acoustic tone that is simply breathtaking.
Everything about our SuperNatural Series exhibits world-class pedigree, from the beautifully understated styling to breathtaking vintage tone. None of which should come as any surprise given that Takamine have spent the last 40 years improving the design and build of their outstanding acoustic guitars. This SuperNaturals range, including the TAN46C is truly outstanding because of the time, materials and knowledge which Takamine put into them.
You can specify your SuperNatural with either a solid spruce or solid cedar soundboard. The spruce-topped version delivers a rich, bright tonality that rewards even the most forceful playing – and what’s more, the sound will improve with age and regular use. The honey-coloured cedar models possess an alltogether darker, more luxuriant tone with a rounder bottom end making them the perfect choice for fingerpicking.
Both the spruce and cedar models benefit from hand-scalloped X-bracing which we fine-tune to suit the characteristics of the different soundboard materials. The backs and sides are of beautiful bookmatched rosewood, chosen to complement the inherent tone signature of the tops. The solid backs are braced to control bottom end response and maximise projection.
The CTP-1 “Cool Tube” preamp gets its name from Takamine’s unique and new technology that runs the Tube at very low voltages, therefore the tube does not glow or produce high levels of heat. The tube actually runs at only two or three degrees above ambient, so there is no concern over the delicate tone woods being affected by radiant heat. With the Takamine CTP-1 “Cool Tube” preamp, the playing will be hot, the tone will be warm, and the tube always remains cool.
An auxiliary input jack and volume knob, which can control an additional add-on pickup of your choice. This facility can accept a magnetic sound hole pickup, or a soundboard transducer. The AUX control knob is used to blend the add-on signal with the Takamine pickup. A small switch in the back of the preamp can be used to match the varying outputs of different pickups with the preamp. The output volume slider can then control the blended signal. The CTP-1 is powered by 4 AA batteries, which will deliver approximately 24 hours of playing time.
